SNOWPLAY FOR CHILDREN  Over 24 tons of snow will fall on Channel Islands Harbor on December 9 in time for the annual Snow Play for Children sponsored by Sotheby’s International Realty.    Traditionally held on the morning of the Parade of Lights as a kick-off to the days festivities, this year’s event will begin at 10 a.m. at  Marina View Park adjacent to Marine Emporium Landing (3600 S. Harbor Blvd.) and last until meltdown which is usually about three hours.     Participation is limited to children 12 and under and is free.   Sotheby International Realty’s agents will be on hand to oversee the play from 10 – 1 p.m. and Santa and Mrs. Claus have promised to stop by.    Horse drawn carriages will depart from this site from 12-5 p.m.     Additional activities for the family including arts & crafts, food, face painting, petting zoo and other outdoor attractions will begin at nearby Fisherman’s Wharf  at 12 noon.    The event is co-sponsored by Vintage Marina.       The 41^st annual Parade of Lights launches at 7 p.m. and circles the Channel Islands Harbor twice.   This year’s theme is “Winter Fantasy.”    For more information call (805) 985-4852.
